ULTRACOMPACT SURFACES

Ultracompact countertops are perfect for any lifestyle especially one that demands the most of your counters since they are virtually indestructible, stain proof, scorch proof, and scratch proof.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ULTRACOMPACT

Ultracompact surfaces are created from a combination of glass, porcelain, and quartz material through a unique fabrication process that involves the mix of raw elements under high temperatures and extreme pressure.

Ultra Compact Surfaces are a revolutionary new material created from a propriety mixture of glass, porcelain and quartz. These high density materials are completely non-porous, non-reactive and won’t scratch or stain. They can withstand high temperatures without burning, scorching or cracking. Hot pots and appliances like crock pots can be placed directly on the surface with no worry of damage. Due to its incredibly versatile nature, ultra compact surfaces can be used in both indoor and outdoor settings. In addition, these materials typically come in extra large sheets so can be used in large projects to minimize seams.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The term “ultracompact surface” is used to describe a completely new countertop surface that is made by putting the raw materials found in glass, porcelain, and quartz, under extreme heat and pressure to create and almost indestructible material.

Due to the extreme durability and non-porosity, general care and cleaning are relatively hassle-free. Mild soap and water works and is often recommended, but there’s a caveat… Soap and water are cheap and simple, but can leave a dull film on the surface when used as a regular cleaner. Using a granite and marble cleaner will leave a streak-free shine.

Quartz countertops are made with a resin that is used to bind crushed stone together. The resin is what gives the countertop its flexibility and makes it very hard to crack or chip. Ultracompact surfaces can crack and chip easier than quartz does. The drawback of the resin in quartz is that it cannot handle high temperatures. With quartz you always need to insulate hot pots and pans from the countertop.

Commonly, traditional surfaces are affected over time by overexposure to UV light, thus making these materials inappropriate for use as external cladding or for an outdoor kitchen. Ultracompact surfaces are made without a resin and are manufactured at an extreme heat to ensure that the material will not deteriorate over time when installed outdoors.

Kitchen surfaces are exposed to high heat regularly. A hot pan or dish can cause damage to traditional stone surfaces within seconds. Ultra compact surfaces can withstand contact with high temperatures without being damaged making it ideal for any surface where meals are often prepared.

A spill of some kind will not affect your ultra compact surface. The material is 100% non-porous meaning any liquid is easily removed and not absorbed. Also by being stain-proof, the surface remains extremely hygienic and ideal for preparing food. Similarly, the surface is very difficult to scratch and through normal everyday use should remain undamaged.

MATERIAL CONSIDERATIONS

ABRASION RESISTANCE

High

An ultracompact surface finish will last for the life of the product and never need to be re-surfaced or re-finished. Cutting directly on them won’t damage them, but will damage your knives!

ABSORPTION/STAINING

Minimal

While other countertops are stain resistant, ultracompact surfaces are completely stain proof. Even the most stubborn stains like wine, coffee, markers and rust can easily be removed from the surface.

ACID SENSITIVITY

Low

Since ultracompact surfaces have extremely low porosity and contain no resins, they are chemical resistant. Common household chemicals like bleach, drain cleaners or oven degreasers won’t harm them.

HEAT RESISTANCE

High

Ultracompact surfaces withstand high temperatures without burning, scorching or cracking. Hot pots and appliances can be placed directly on the surface with no worry of damage.
